Diamond DA40 NG

INNOVATIVE DRIVE AND MOTOR

Diamond Aircraft is the world's first aircraft manufacturer to put a diesel-based propulsion system into series production. The DA40 NG is powered by an Austro Engine AE300 turbocharged piston engine with 168 hp.

The Austro Engine AE 300 is based on an engine developed by Mercedes-Benz. Thanks to its turbocharged DA40 NG, it maintains power and climb parameters even at high altitudes, where air is much scarcer. Thanks to liquid cooling, the outside temperature and rapid changes in altitude do not cause the engine to overcool. The pilot can focus on the joy of flying.

Modern airframe 

Made of durable and strong glass and carbon composite, the DA40 NG is a safety guarantee that meets the strictest certification requirements. Using state-of-the-art materials and manufacturing technologies, it provides high performance, excellent efficiency and passive protection for passengers.

Innovative drive unit

The AE300 engine runs on widely available and inexpensive JET A-1 fuel, which in exceptional situations, can be substituted for automotive diesel. The Diamond DA40 NG consumes an average of 19 l/h at a cruising speed of 260 km/h. In automotive language, this translates to a fuel consumption of 7.5 l/100 km.

G1000 NXi avionics

Fully integrated Garmin G1000 NXi avionics equipped with the latest features, including the state-of-the-art GFC700 digital autopilot system. Optional TAS, Synthetic Vision, Satellite WX, and Stormcope systems, provide superior situational awareness, convenience and safety.
